DUNSTAN DISTRICT HOSPITAL.
The customary monthly meeting of the above institution was held on Tuesday evening last the sth inat. The President (Vincent Pyke, Esq.) and ten members of Committee were present.
The minutes of previous meeting were read and confirmed.
The correspondence inward was received and outward adopted. The Secretary read list of contributions during the past month. (See advemsment) The Secretary was instructed to convey the thanks of the Committed to Messrs. Stratford and M'Elligot for their contributions, and to forward them forms of admission for the respective amounts.
The Visiting Committee’s report, recommending payment of accounts for salaries, supplies, &c.. £lßl 9s. 6d.; also Treasurer’s report, showingbalance in hand of £30311 a. 8d Government subsidy due, £1203 la. 6d. were read and received.
The House Surgeon reported that Mr. and Mrs. shepherd, the newly elected wards
man and matron bad visited the Hospital, but had declined to enter on the duties and requested a fresh appointment to be- male at once, as the institution was virtually without servants. ' Resolved, That Mr. and Mrs. Staiibrook be appointed to the offices of Wardsman and Matron, and that the Secretary intimate same to them. The annual meeting uf contributors to r eceive reports of retiring Oonjmittee and elect new committee was fixed for 15th ins!. (-ee alvertisment.) Resolved, That in consideration of the length of time Mr. and Mrs. M ‘Arten have hcl d the position of Wardsman and Matron and in recognition of the efficient manner they respectively performed their duties; a testimonial subscribed to by the office bearers of the institution be presented them. The notice of motion standing in the name of Mr. Patterson, respecting the salary of the Surgeon was brought up forconsideration After discussion it was withdrawn, it being deemed better for the now Committee to deal with the matter. A vote of thanks to the Chair terminated the meeting.
