From the evidence it was proved that a very violent blow wag struck, but, that no weapons had been used—Fined £3. anl lfis. 6d. costs, half the fine to go to complainant; the complainant gave 20s. of the amount to the hospital. WARDEN'S COURT. Wee Gee v. F. M'Cluskey—Mr. Baileyappeared for complainant, Mr. Chappie for defendants—The complaint was for removing and destroying pegs and notices at Devonshire Gully. Two Chinamen identified the defendant as being the man who had committed the offence. The defendant and two European witnesses denied it. Minton and others —This was a rehearing of case heard and decided August 17.—Mr. Chappie for com* plainants, Mr. Bailey for defendants—Re. hearing was granted on affidavit that fresh-
and important evidence was forthcoming. In addition to the evidence adduced at former hearing, it was proved that the old grant to Clancey and party, whose right defendants had acquired, had been cancelled by a decision of the Warden's Court. Therefore, Gordonand party's right to the supply of water in dispute was proved to be dated one month earlier that Minton's. The assessors found that plaintiffs were entitled to priority.—Judgment for plaintiffs with costs £3. 19s. and 19s. cxpenees.
