Hurdle Race.—Sweepstake of 10s. each, with 10 Sovs. added. Open to all horses that have npver won an advertised hurdle race. Halfmile heats, over three flights of hurdles. All events post entry. ON Monday Evening next, the 3rd of August, a Public Meeting of Residents of the Cromwell Goldfield, will be held at the Sluicers' Arms Hotel, Kdwarau Gorge, and on Tuesday Evening, the 4th of August, at the School Room, Cromwell, for the purpose of Memorialising the Government to grant forthwith a moderatesized and productive commonage for the numerous residents who are anxious to settle down and raise animal stock, to benefit themselves primarily and also to createsupply and commerce for others as well. The object of the meetings is all-im-portant to the inhabitants of the district generally aud the sluicers and other residents of the Bannockbuni and •other districts are urgently re quested to attend. Chair to be taken each evening precisely at 8 o'clock. OPEN I N G CLYDE PUBLIC LIBRARY READING ROOMS. READINGS AND OTHER ENTERTAINMENTS. THE Rev. Father WILLIAMS and other Gentlemen have kindly consented to give their services on the above occasion. The Committee will also present their report.
