A CORRECTION.

(To THE EDITOR OF THE DL'XSTAN TIMES') Sir,—Allow me to correct a slight inaccuracy in your report of my address to my constituents at Clyde. 1 refer to the following pargraph:—" The sale of land in Hundreds at 10s. per acre, after having been open fur purchase seven years, was bitterly opposed by the Opposition, who agreed justly that the principle deterred pcojde from purchasing at i'l per acre; but he considered that any land not being taken up during so long a period must of necessity be of very inferior quality." Now what I did say was:—"That unsold land in a hundred that had been open to selection seven years, although, possibly, not of an inferior quality to that which had realised £1 per acre, was necessarily, of an inferior mmketable value, seeing that it was liable from the presence of thatparticular clause in the Laud Act, to be put up to auclionat the reduced upset price of 10s. per acre. No sensible man would willingly give £1 per acre for land when, by waitine a few months, he had every prospect of attaining it for about 12s. I contended that, although the clause could not be enforced by the Government, without the'sanction of the Council, still the very fact of it 3 existence, implied the possibility of its being operated upon sooner or later. Trusting lhat you will excuse my trespassing thus far on your space. I am &c, WM. FKASER M.P.C.
