CLYDE TOWN COUNCIL.
Tho usual fortnightly meeting of the Town Council was held in the Council | Chambers, on Tuesday, 2Sth inst., at 7 P. I M. Present; D. M'Pherson, Mayor, and Councillors Hazlett,M'Connochie, and Cambridge. The inward and outward corresponenec were read and adopted. The Town Clerk reported, That the £l3O. 10s. received from the Government was on account of Road Contract, Clyde to Nevis, and that he had paid the same over to the Contractor, Mr. Daykin. He also reported that he had seen the District Engineer Mr. W. Greenlaw on the matt'r,and requested that he would report to this Council respecting all further payments. Notice of motion by Cr. M'Connochie.— That the services of the Inspector of Nuisances be dispensed with. Account of J. Holloway, £ls, for curbing &c. Ferry and Cheviot-streets, was laid on Table. Cr. Hazlett objected to this account being paid, as the original contract was for £lO. Cr. Cambridge reported, That Public Works Committee had extended the contract to £ls. deeming it better to do so. Proposed by Cr. Hazlett, seconded by Cr M'Connochie, That the sum of £lo,the amountof original contract be passed for payment. Carried. The usual vote to the chair concluded the proceedings.
