NEW MINING REGULATIONS.

M'liityre has supplied us with a copy of the new regulations, made by llie .Mining Conference, we have subtracted the following us of most importance; it is intended to add them"to the Regulations now-in force. Ordinary Claims. —Ordinary Claims ■hall include all claims except prospecting claims, extended);claims, dredging cliims' and quartz claims. Ordinary'Chtiius.shall not exceed 100 feet by KHlfcet for each holder of a Miner's ltight. Quartz Claims.—Quartz Claims shall not exceed 100 feet in length along the courc of the lode or vein, by a width not exceeding 100 feet upon each side of the course, for each holder of a Miner's Right. DrEDGIXG Claims.—ln dredging claims each holder of a Miner's jßight shall be entitled to an area of 100 feet along the course of a river or stream, but in nocaseshal an area exceeding 800 feet in length along the course of jthe stream be held by any one company. No dredge shall be allowed to work within fifteen (15) feet of the boundary of any claim cm the beach of a river, in occupation, or registered, without first obtaining the consent of the owner of such claim. Protection of sleeping shareuoleers. — In case any person shall desire to take up a claim requiring the assistance of capital to develop the same, he shall be entitled to occupy and hold an ordinary area for the term hereinafter specified on behalf of any person willing to'advancethe rcqur. Ed capital. Provided that in such rase, itshall be necessary to j 1 * give notice to the Warden specifying the time for which he shall require to hold such area, and copy of such notice shalf.be posted on the ground for seven days prior to the granting of the same, and the Warden shall hear and deal with any objection to the granting of such area. Before the Warden shall receive any notice under section 1, an agreement shall be drawn up and signed by each shareholder, specifying the share and interest of each individual of the party, and a copy of such agreement shall be registed in the office of the Warden for the information of the public. Upon the expiration of the time specified for holding any claim under the foregoing sections, the full number of men required by the be put onto work in such claim, but the Warden may upon application to him made in the same way as the original application and upon sufficient cause shown, extend the term originally granted. Heads or RACES.'—AII race; shall have a

point specified at which they shall he taken from the creek or river. In races already cut this shall be taken to be the spot from which the race now heads. No person shall shift a water-right from one race to another, to the prejuidce offany existing right. Tail water. —Water from a tail-race may be used by any person provided that such does not interfere with the proper discharge of tailings. If the holder of a water-licence does not construct a race of sufficient capacity to carry the number of heads registered, such number of heads over and above what the race is actually capable of carrying, shall de deemed to be abandoned. Any person wishing to use a Tail-race may do so on condition of first paying to the owner thereof a proportionate share of the expense of construction, and such proportionate share of expense, if necessary, shall be decided by arbitrition, provided that the person sousing any tailrace shall as sist in clearing the same, whenever it shall be necessary to do so.
