ALEXANDRA TOWN COUNCIL.
The accustomed fortnightly meeting of the Council was hold on the evening of the Bth hi3t. Present, the Mayor, Councillors Boresford, and Jack. The minutes of tin previous meetings, were read and confirmed. Correspondence real and received. A letter was read from the Town Clerk of Queenstown, requesting the co-operation of the Council in their endeavours to securofadditional Mail service. The Town Clerk was instructed to reply, and state'that the Corporation will give ail the aid in their power for such necessary object; also to state in reply to a letter from Mr. Manders. dated from Clyde, that thoughtfully sympathizing 'Hvith the object of the Congress,jfno delegate from this Council will be able to attend. Statement of estimated provouue, and expenditure for the year ISIiS-!), as prepared by Finance committee was adopted, and ordered tojbu published in the (iaxette, in the usual form. Balance of the Contractor's account, aniounting to £!)( l 10s for forming &c Tarbert streetfwas passed for payment. i Accounts also to the am omit of £2O Cd lid were passed for payment. The report of the Public Works Committee was read by the Town Clerk and adopted. Tenders for kerbing kc. Tarbert st. were opened and read.—The lowest tender, that of Merrs Forrest and Co. was on the motion of Councillor Borusford ai cepted. The tenders were respectively for kerbing, gravelling, &v footways, 2s Gd per i lineal yard ; ami fur channeling the lower portion of tiie street from the Boatman's Anns Hotel to the river bank, with a live foot wile channel, lis. perli lealj'yard. The usual vote of thanks to the (haia, concluded the business of the meeting.
