The address ! was as follows : __ " To His Royal Highnc s the Duke of Edinburgh. "May it please your lloyal Highness. j j " We. the inhabitants of the incorporated ■ town of Clyde and its vicinity, in the pro- ! vinee of Otago, and colony of Xew Zealand, ' | in public meeting assembled, desire to exI press to your Royal Highness the feelings I of indignation and sorrow with which we i received the intelligence of the late attempt ; upon your Royal Highness's life. "We fervently pray that God maybe ! pleased to grant your Royal Highness a speedy and complete recovery, an 1 trust all concerned in the outrage may be brought to justice. "We cannot refrain from expressing at the same time our sincere loyalty and affec tion for the Throne ami person of Her Meet Gracious Majesty the Queen. Messrs Cope, Hazlett and Ryan ma*le. speeches strongly condemnatory of Fenianism.
