CORPOR ATION of ALEXANDRA

The usual fortnightly meeting of the Council was held in the Library, on Wednesday last at the usual hour. Full meeting nf members present. The minutes of 'ho previous meeting were read and confirmed. The outward and inward correspondence was read and recived. The assessment on several buildings, value ' by the Town Valuators was allowed, on tbo mntii n ef Councillor Theyers. Statement of years rates collected, amounting to ClOl Is. was laid on the table by the Town Clerk, which was signed by the Mayor, and ordered to bo transmitted to TTis Honor the Superintendent. Four contracts for the forming, gravelling &c. of Tarbsrt Street was read. The lowest sent in by Messrs. Henry Spre •, of the amount of TO" 10. on the motion of Cr. Thever- was accented. The Public Works Committee was ordered ti take the necessary steps to see that the contract was properly fulfilled, The Bye Laws as read by the Town Clerk were approved of and adopted, anl or lered to bo forwarded for the approval of the Superintendent. ■Notice of motion was given by Cr. RatclirTe, That he wi'.l move, at the next sittinc, that the Town Clerk write to the S-inermtendent, and request him to have Blocks 11 and 12 of this township declared a reserve for a public recreation ground. The usual vote of thanks to the chairman closed the proceedings.
