DUNSTAN DISTRICT HOSPITAL

1 The monthly meeting of the Committee of the above institution was held in the Council Chamber on Thursday evening, the 11th inst, Present ; Messrs. Fraser (VicePresident), Christophers (Hon, Treasurer), - M'Pherson, Spensely, Huestou, Hastie, ] Grind ley, Hazlett, Beck, M ‘Connochie, Naylor, Fache, and Barlow (Secretary). Mr. W. A letter from the Town Council was read, | offering the use of the Council Chambers at the rate of £lO per annum. The re- [ P ol h contained a number of suggestions, among which were : The desirability of effecting an insurance from loss by fire of the Hospital buildings ; the necessity of ! erecting bath-houses ; and recommending that steps be taken whereby two in-door patients, named J ones and .Ramsay, be sent to Dunedin. The Secretary was instructe 1 to write to the various insurance office respecting the rate of premium demanded per £10!) ;~alsu to write to his Honor the Superintendent, asking what amount of subsidy the Government would give towards supplying a wooden leg for Ramsay, a patient, whose leg was amputated in April, 1801!. The Visiting Committee were instructed to f rward the patient Jones to Dunedin. The further consideration of the bathhouse was_ or ered to stand over till the next meeting. The Secretary was instructed to write to the Secretary to the Waka'ip Hospital, in answer to a letter received at the last meeting respecting the reduced subsidy, and to state that this Committee Lave resolved to expostulate with the Provincial Executive on the proposed reduction. Also to write to the goldfields members of the Provincial Council, asking them to resist to the utmost the reduction of subsidy from £.°> to f The Honorary Treasurer’s report, showing a balance in hand of £4S:S Is. Sd., was read and ordered to be received. The Finance Committee's report, recommending that the sum of (104 Os. Id., be ('.aid for salaries and other accounts, was received. Proposed by Mr. Reck, seconded by Mr. Hazlett, and carried, That the Secretary do act as Collector, and that for his combine I services as Secretary and Collector he be paid at the rate of £OO per annum. The usual vote to the chair concluded the proceedings.
