YIELD OF GOLD IN OTAGO.
Tha export of gold from the province of Otago, from the time of t ! e discovery to the end of the year 1867 amounted to 2,180,72-t ounces. The exports for the several years were as follows: 1861 ... 187,695 oz. 1862 ... 397,602 1863 ... 580,233 1864 ... 45.\927 1865 ... 253,697 1866 ... 156,221 1867 ... 149,349 2,180,724 On the Ist of February current 1,7200z. 181wt. of gold, the duty upon which amounted to £215 2s. 3d., was passed at the Customs by the Bank of New Zealand for shipment by the s.s. Gothenburg, for Melbourne. During the month of January last 10,6550z. 6dwt. of gold were passed by the Customs at Dunedin, the dcc'ared value of which was£4l,9S3 15a , and upon'.which the duty paid amounted to £1,332 ss. lOd, The gold ex. ported was as follows : Bank of New Zealand 7,534 oz 13dwt. Bank of Otago ... 3,040 13 Private hands ... • 13 • 0 The amounts received by Escort since the beginning of the year have been :—January 14, 5,32602. 13tlwt, ; January 29, 4,0230z. 4dwt.
