A visit from his Honor the Superintendent may shortly be expected. We believe that hs intends coming overland to Queenstown from Martin’s Bay, thence proceeding to Dunedin, via the Dunstan. The Programme of the Pry bread Races, which appears in anuher column is on a most liberal scale, and for so small a place as Drybread, the amount of money available for prizes i; surprisingly large. We arc given to understand that there will be a variety of other sports besides the Races. A shooting match with riles is spoken of. It will be seen by our A Ivertidng columns, that the Cromwell Races will take place on Monday and Tuesday the 23rd and 24th inst.. 'J he programme is a very liberal one, and visitors will find some first rate sport. In consequence of pressure upon cur space, we arc compelled te hold over our Correspondents’ letters from Cromwell and Drybread. The Christmas sports at Alexandra will take place on the day preceding Christmas. This arrangement has been made in consequence of the Dunstan Jockey Club Race Meeting falling on Boxing day. • The annual fortnightly meeting of the Clyde Town Council, which should have been hold on Tuesday evening last, lapsed for want of a quorum. Tenders for to-day, are called for the erection of jumps and the repairs of saddling paddock, for the iag Dunstan District Joekey Pnub Races. We understand that Mr. B. L. Farjeon has resigned the Managership of the “ Daily Times,’ Newspaper, and is sccceeded by ’Mr. John Bathgate, late Manager of the Bank of Otago. Mr. Farjcon proceeds to England, to superintend the publication of seme works on the Colonies and Colonial life, of which he is the author. We wish Mr. Farjcon every success in his new vocation.
