MAIDEN PLATE H Of Twenty Sovereigns. Open to all maiden horses that have never won an advertised prize, matches and hack races excepted. Distance, one-and-a-half mile. Entrance, Two guineas. "Weight for age. "<THE FRANKTON HANDICAP SWEEPSTAKES. A Sweepstakes of 5 sovs.,with sovs. added. Nominations, enclosing entrance, i' 3 3s, to be sent in to the Secretary on or before 9 o'clock, p.m., on the 30th December, 1867. Weights to be declared Ist January, 1868. Acceptances with £1 Is. and sweep (5 sovs.) to be made on the night of general entry (Tuesday, 7th January) before 9 o'clock p.m. Distance, two-and-a-half miles. If three horses start the second horse to save his stakes. WAKATIP HANDICAP 'Of Twenty-five Sovereigns. Open only to horses owned, bona fide, in the Wakatip and Nokomai districts, by residents since Ist of November'kit. Two miles. Nominations to be sent in on the night of the 6th January, 1868, and weights to be declared on the night of the 7th January, 1868. Entrance, £3 3s. HACK SELLING RACE •Of Twenty Sovereigns, Open to all untrained horses. Entrance, One sov. Heats once round the course. Winner to be sold by public auction for 20 sovs., any balance to go to the Race Pund. SECOND DAY. THE LADIES' PURSE '■ Of Twenty Sovereigns. Gentlemen riders. Welter weights. One-and-a-half mile. Entrance, £2 2s. LAKE DISTRICT HANDICAP Of Seventy-five Sovereigns. Open to all horses. Nominations to be sent in on or before 9 p.m. on the 30th inst., addressed to the Stewards, Powell's Family Hotel, Queenstown. £3. 3s. to be enclosed with nomination, and £2 2s. to be paid upon acceptance, on or before 9 p.m., on Tuesday, 7th January. Weights to be declared on the Ist January. Distance, 3 miles. HURDLE RACE 'Of Fifty Sovereigns. Heats one-and-a-half mile. Open to all horses. Over five flights of hurdles. No less weight than lOst. 41b. CONSOLATION HANDICAP 'Of Sovereigns. One-and-a-half mile. For all beaten horses. RULES AND REGULATIONS. The Rules of the Otago Jockey Club wiil be Btrictly enforced. Three entries to be made for each race, or the public money will not be given ; and another race may be substituted. No person to enter -or nominate a horse unless he be a subscriber of not less than three sovereigns to the funds. Moreover, no person to enter or nominate a horse not his botia-fide property, unless the said subscription of three sovereigns be paid for the actual owner also, under forfeiture of any race such horse may win. No entry will be received for any of 'the races except upon this condition : —That all disputes, claims, and objections arising out of the racing shall be decided by the Stewards, or a majority of them ; whose decisions upon all points connected with the carrying out of the above programme shall be final. All entries, unless otherwise specified, to be sent in previous to 9 o'clock, p.m., on : tbe 7th of January, 186S, addressed to the Stewards, at Powell's Family Hotel, Queenstown, in sealed envelopes, containing entrance money, qualification money, full description and ago of-horse, name of owner, and color to be worn by the rider, under penalty of two sovereigns for neglect of the Jockey costume insisted upon. Dogs on the Course will be destroyed. Five per cent, deducted from the gross amount of all stakes, for expenses.
