CROMWELL TOWN COUNCIL.
A special meeting of the Council was held on the 23rd inst. Present ;W. J. Barry, Mayor, and Councillors Whetter, Kidd, and Edwards. The minutes of the two previous meetings were read and confirmed. A letter from Mr. Goodger, asking permission to construct a culvert iu Melmare-street, was read and received, Proposed by Cr. Whetter, That tenders be called for the erection of a Council Chamber. Seconded by Cr. Edwards, and carried. Proposed by Cr. Edwards, That a tri-weekly mail be applied for, the present arrangements being inconvenient and unsatisfactory. Seconded by Cr. Kidd, and carried. Notice Pater. Cr. Edwards to move, That the Town Clerk be re-appointed for the ensuing year, and that he find another surety in* the place of Mr. J. Hetherington. who has removed from the district ; also that the Inspector of Nuisances be re-appointed. Cr. Edwards to move, That tenders be called for the completion of Melmare-street. A vote of thanks to the chair concluded the proceedings.
