DUNSTAN DISTRICT HOSPITAL.

A meeting of the subscribers to the Bunstan Hospital was held at the Town Hall, Clyde on 'Friday last to elect two members of Committee in the places of Messrs Henry Stratford, and John Jack resigned. Also to take into consideration the rules having reference to the payment of the Collector and Secretary, 'ihe president, 11. W. Robinson Esq. B. M. occupied, the Chair, his worship the Mayor, Mr J. D. Fcaaud, who is also Vice president of the Institution was present and assisted in the conducting the business of the meeting. After explaining the objects of the meeting, tho Chairman called for nominations to fill the ivacancics in the Committee ; Messrs W. Eraser, M.P.C. W. Grindlcy, W. Sraitham, G. Fache, P. Kelly, and \V. Grumitt were duly nominated and seconded ; a poll was at once taken, and resulted in the return of Messrs Fraser and Gru-' mitt. gp The Chairman next explained that the payment of a.commission of ten per .cent, to the Collector had caused much dissatisfaction amongst the Local committees iu the outlying districts, and people hesitated to subscribe, when their subscriptions were liable to a deduction, they considered that the Institution should have the whole benefit of all monies subscribed. He the Chairman would inform the meeting that the ten per cent, commission was in lieu of a salary, it was found advisable to amalgamate the offices of Secretary and Collector and no one would fulfil those duties without remuneration, the payment of commission was in the light of a salary, the Rules of the Institution requiring the office of Secretary toTao an honorary one, the Committee considered it advisable to call tho subscribers together on the matter, and he. should be glad to receive propositions on the subject, from the meeting. Mr James Hazlett proposed that the word Honorary Secratary be expunged from the Rules, seconded by Mr J. Hastie, and carried. Mr Cope proposed, and Mr Beck seconded, That a Rule to be called No. 22 A. be inserted in tho Rules and Regulations as follows, — "The may if necessary remunerate the Secretary by the payment of a stated salary, or in any other way they may deem advisable."— Carried,
