In consequeneo of a pressure of matter, j we are compelled to omit our usual loader, and correspondents' letters from Alexandra and Cromwell. Mr Robert Fiulay, was elected Mayor | of Uoxandra, on Monday last, beating j his oppoLont. Mr \V. 11. IJastcdt, by 31 i votes. The election for the Mayoralty of fromwell, came oil' on the 22nd inst.—the votes recorded, were, for Mr. V,'. J. Barry 27, Mr W. Grant 11. The Ball at the Royal Mail Hotel, Alexandra, on Wednesday evening last, in aid of the Library Fund, was a. great sue cess—about -10 couple were present in the room. It will be seen by our advertising columns, that the Rose Thistle and Shamrock i ompany's Race, Alexandra, will be sold by Messrs Cope and Faclie on Saturday next, at, noon, at the Royal Mail Hotel, Alexandra. We have been requested to draw attention to the Sale by Alicion by Messrs Copy and Facho at 11 a.m. at Mo ate Christo Farm, on Friday, the 2nd inst. Also to the .-aloof Fruit and Forest tees at the same time and p'aec. It is estimated that the cost while in Session of the House of Representatives, is one hundred pounds a day, and that each member attending, costs the Country one. hundred and fifty pounds per annum.
