TOWN COUNCIL. CLYDE.

The usual fortnightly meeting of the Council, wis held at the Council Chambers, on Tuesday, the 9th Inst.—Present, the Mayor' J. D. Feraud Esq. J. P. and Councillors M'Connochie, Uoodwin, Bazlett, and Cambridge. The minutes of last general and special meetings were read and confirmed. Inward and outward correspondence read. It was agreed that an extension of five weeks be granted to Mr Dakiu, the contractor, for channeling and curbing Sunderland Street. The Finance Committees' report was received and laccounts to the amount of £2l 6 6 was ordered for payment. The Mayor gave notice, that to comply w th tin Ordinance, three Councillors should retire by ballot ■: tipon the ballot being taken, Mess-is Cambridge, Cope and M' Connochic were elect cd to retire. The Mayor stated that he had received a requisition, numerously signed, asking him to allow himself to be placed in nomination fi>r teh office of Mayor at the forthcoming election. He was sorry to say circumstances would not admit of his acceding to the request, unless those Councillors who had been returned would hold Jiim free from fine in the event of his resigning the post of honor before the term of office had expired. The Councillors having civen the desired pledge, the Mayor signified his intention of con testing the election. The usual vote of thanks terminated the proceedings.
