THE GOAT NUISANCE.
TO THE EDITOR OF THE DUXBTAN TIMES. Sir, —Will you permit mo through tire medium of your columns to call
attention to the " Goat Nuisance '' and to the destruction caused by - them to gardens. I have during the last six months devoted a deal of time and trouble to raising plants from seeds, "and row, Si r the goats have eaten them.all up, with the exception of the stump. None can feel, but those, who have watched daily their plants growing to perfection, the dis heartening sensation esperienced by seeing the result of months of labour entirely thrown away, through these goats. I know I may legally destroy the animals, but it is not pleasant to have to destroy a neighbour's property, though I should feel perfectly justified in poisoning all those in my garden, but I think the nuisance may be cured by the owners simply hobbling the fore and hind legs, so that they may be unable to jump free, no sod wall will keep them out, and firing at them has no terrors. I trust that the owners of goats will see the injustice of allowing them wilfully to destroy property, I remain ifcc. R. BARLOW. Clyde, June 17th 18G7.
