We are given to under, tind en good authority that the Masonic Brethren are about to open a Lodge at Clyde, and as an initiatory step are about to issue a prospectus for building a Masonic Hall. The yield from the stone of the Scandi. navian Co.'s claim at Skippers, is, we are happy to say improving. Mr Badger in a speech of some length, strongly condom ed the aition taken by the General Government in withholding the delegated powers from the Superintendent and appointing an irresponsive Agent, thereby disfranchising the speaker cone'uded his remark- - , and moved, "That this meeting desires to express its entire disapproval of the letter above referred to, the principles contained therein t-erng in direct opposition to the expressed opinions of the inhabitants of this District"—Seconded by Mr J. N'uvse and carrie'. Mr Fleming after a capital speech, in which he expressed his entire confidence in the Superintendent, and Provincial Council, proposed " That : this meeting condemns in the strongest ! manner, the action tsik.cn by the General 1 Government, in withholding the delegated I powers from His Honor the Superintcn- ; dent, and pledges itself to support the j Provincial authorities by every lawful means iu its power." —Seconded by Mr Bell snl carried. Mr G. Crawford proposed " That st copy of the foregoing resolutions be forwarded to His Honor the Superintendent, seconded by Mr Pcrriam and carried- A vote of tha> ks to tin Chairman closed the proceedings. We direct the attention of the, Eectors of Hampden, Manuherikia, and Gold fields' Towns to the advertisement intimating that Mr A. W. Smith, revising Officer, wi 1 attend on stated days to hear and dekimine -all claims to be placed on the Electoral Roll for each respective Dirtrict. It is necessary that all those electors who have made application to be placed ou the Electoial Roll should ascertain whether they have complied with the requirements - as set forth, otherwise they may tind them selves disfranchised by having their names erased from the 8011.
