CROMWELL TOWN COUNCIL.
Tbe usual fortnightly meeting of the Council was held in the School Room on Monday last. The Mayor and full Coun*cil present. The minutes of the previous meeting \fire read and confirmed. A letter was read from the Provincial Secretary, respecting the bye-laws of the Municipality. The letter was ordered to bo received. The Engineer's report was read and" adopted. Proposed l-v O. Marsh, Tliat a copy 'of the Town Surveyor's report upon the XJ-'oniwcll and Queeustown road be for. warded to the Provincial Government, together with an application for money for the construction of the road within t'lo Municipal boundaries. Seconded by Cr. Whctter, and carried. Proposed by Cr. Marsh, Tina the Council resolve itself into a Committee to t; insider the- Engineer.s report upon the Cromwell a d Nevis road. Seconded by Cr. Hetherington, and carried. Tlie Mayor left the chair at this stage of the proceedings. Cr. Marsh was then voted to the chair. The Surveyor's report upon the Ciomwell and Nevis road was read and considered in committee. Upon the Council resuming business, Cr. Whctter proposed, That the Town Surveyor's report on the formation of a new line of road from the-town of Cromwell to a point of proposed junction with the Clyde and Nevis track, near Messrs. Douglas and Alderson's home station, together with the plan submitted therewith, be forwarded to his Honor the Superintendent, for approval, in compliance with a request made in a letter from his Honor to the Mayor of this Municipality. Seconded by Cr Kidd, and carried. ■Moved by Cr. Hetherington, That tho wages account, amounting to £3O ss. Gd., be ordered to be paid. Seconded by Cr. Whctter, a - d carried. . The usual vote of thanks concluded the proceedings.
