NEVIS.
(FROM A COI'.r.rSFONDF.NT.) The present unusually dry season is much felt by the liyJrauiic sinkers of this district. Most of the claims, at the Upper Nevis particularly, have been at a standstill for several weeks back, owing to the great scarcity of the necessary element. Qtherways mining matters hero are in a most prosperous condition, the only want being population to place the Nevis on a level with the most remunerative goldfields of the province. The officials of the Goldfield Department are in very bad odour heiv at present, from the neglect this important district receives at their hand.--. The miners are about taking the necessary steps towards the establishment of a Central Mining Board. Of course they will act in conjunction with the other mining districts of the provi ee. It. is to be hoped that the whole of the mining community will bestir themselves ancnt the matter, and that without less of time.
