TO TUH Electors of the Goldfiolds IN T.JE DUN. TAX DISTRICT. n ENTLEMEN -The requisition from >J so many influcntid inhabitants in tie Dunstan District has induced me to place my services at your disposal, and should I have the honor to be returned as your representative in the Provincial Council, I shall endeavour to retain that confidence you so kindly placed in me. It will always be my desire to further the progress of the Goldfields, and see that a fair distribution of the public funds'be spent in opening up the country and de veloping its mineral resources. It is absolutely necessary that the Holdfields should.have representatives whose interests are identical with those of the miners, so that their wants may be made k own and understood. I can claim to be one of those interested, and I shall use my utm st endeavors to cheek the abominable taxation which is year by year being heaped upon the mining community directly and indirectly. Ee'ieve me, Gentlemen, if I am returned shall never rest until I see the duty on Sold removed or considerably reduced, for i consider it a most unjust tax on industry - imposed upon a people who undergo tuo greatest hardships 1o open up a portion of the country, which otherwise would Le barren and unprofitable. The agricultural interest I should like to see advance more rapidly on the Goldfiel s, and the onlv way to attain that object is to gve easy access to the lands. I am so far libera! on the Land Ques io:i that, had I the giving away of the country I would give it to the "bona fide" small Previous to the nomination t shall per--sonally explain my views on other mattew connected with the Gold-fields, and the advancement of the country generally.
