In the statistics recently furnished by the Registrar-General, we learn the amount of the funded debt of the colony, up to December, 1865. Upon that date the total amount authorised to be borrowed by i both General and Provincial Governments was £0,269,000. The total amount of debentures in circulation was £4,368,681 1 Is. 4d., and the amount of sinking funds then accrued £136,197 7s. 6d.

We are in receipt of Mr B. L. Farjeon's new Christmas look, 'KJrif'buton account of the want of space, we must leave over our review till next issue. A cursory gleam through the work, shews that it is written solely on subject relating to the Goldfields; most of the incidents will be very readily understood. The petition for the establishment of a District Court at Clyde, has been very numerously sigued in the out districts, at Dunstan Creek; no less than 180 signatures were obtained.

According to established custom, our local knights <>f the cleaver, made a grand display of the r wares Mr W. J, Barry at Cromwt 1. .exhibited some fine specimens of the l/nvine and porcine races, also seme remaraably fat sheep and lambs.

Messrs Griudley and Attfield did likewise at Clyde; the former had his shop very tastefully decorated with evergreens aud flowers. At Alexandra, Messrs 0' Regan, and Hillhouse made capital displays, which judging by the number of purchasers on t hristmas eve, the appetites of the good people of Manuherikia were not tempted in vain. We are given to understand that the Stewards of the Dunstan Races, have provided for a three days sport on a most liberal scale.

By a Telegram received on Thursday evening, we are informed of the arrival of the English Mail, via Panama, at Wellington, on the 23rd Inst, and fiunedin, on the 25th. The news is but of little interest. The dates are London 2nd and New York 10th November.

The escort returns for the past fortnight is as follows. Ciyde, 1210 oz. Cromwell, 1500oz. and Alexandra, 1500oz.
