(We do not identify ourselves'with the'opinion expressed by our correspondents.) TO THE EDITOR OF THE DXJNSTAN TIMES. Sir, —On the 7th instant, you inserted the prices of the contracts for the supply of the Clyde Hospital. I believe it has created a deal of animosity ataongst the merchants at Clyde, but I can assure you the miners are thankful for your issue—they are not now disposed to pay an advance of 25 per cent, cash payment on the above mentioned prices as now asked of them. Contract for bread, Is Gd her 4 lb loaf. I beg to call the attention of the inhabitants of the district to the fearful extortion of the bakers’ prices—they are now charging 2s per 4 lb loaf without weighing. Referring to the prices of broad in other districts, I must call it a robbery of the public ; but not to encroach on the space of your valuable paper, I would suggest that a public-meeting be called for the organisation of a co-operative baking company. I am ready with my mite to further the ends of such a good undertaking as a “Good and Cheap Loaf—the Staff of Life.” Storekeeper. Cromwell, 18th Sept.. 1866.
