TOWN COUNCIL, CROMWELL.

The Council met at the Court-House, on Saturday 15th September. The Mayor and full Council present. The minutes of the previous meeting having been read and confirmed. A letter •vvas read from Mr P. Armstrong applying for payment as Acting-Councillor during 'the municipal election. Proposed by Councillor Hetherington—"That the application for payment be be taken into consideration this tlay tnree months. Seconded by Councillor Whetter, and carried. A letter was read from the Mayor of Dunedin, enclosing copies of resolutions passed at a meeting held in the Princess Theatre, Dunedin, and asking the cooperation of the Mayor and Council of Cromwell in the formation of a league for the protection of Provincial interests—a conversation ensued, in which the most of the Council took part—it was ultimately agreed to let the matter staud over till next meeting. The usual vote to the chair closed the proceedings.
