Before Wilson Grey, Esq., K.M. Clyde, 17th Sept., 1866. Wright and Carpenter v Patrick Kelly. Claim for £2B lis 9d goods delivered. No appearance of defendant. Judgment for amount and costs. Hume v Barr, claim for £36 4s sd, balance of wages as Postmaster at Clyde. Withdrawn. Krouse v Hillhouse, claim for £SB 15s wages due, Verdict for defendant. M'Leod v Proudfoot, claim £32 6s, work and labour done. Brown v the same, claim £39 19s. Both of these cases were for wages as workmen at the Kawarau Bridge. The Magistrate ruled that had the summonses been served on a Mr Pearce, he wonld have given a verdict for the plaintiffs ; there being no legal evidence to show the liability of Proudfoot. The Magistrate however gave them a certificate 3tatingthe 1 facts of the case, which certificate they i were recommended to forward to the Pro- ! vincial Secretary. Patrick Connor v Patrick Barrett, claim , for £BO, work and labour done. Settled out of Court. Kliza Crust v Patrick Connor, claim for i £46 8s 6d, board and lodging. Settled > out of Court.
