PUBLIC MEETING
On Saturday eveiiug Hie 25th inst, a numerously attended pubLo moating, called by thelMayor, Mr J. ■'. Ferani, was he dat the Dunstan Hotel, for the purpose of memoralising His Kvcellency, Sir George Grey, for the establishment of a Bonded-Warehouse at Clyde. The meetiug was presided over by the Mayor, who, in a lengthy and explanatory address, showed the advantages the district would derive by the establishment of a BondedWarehouse, called upon Mr James Hazlett to propose the first resolution—"That this meeting considers it highly desirable that a Bonded Warehouse should be established at Clyde. Seconded by Mr Cambridge, and carried. \ Mr Cope proposed—" That Messrs Hazlett, Ziele, Feraud, and the Mover be, and are hereby appointed a Committee to prepare and forward to His Excellency the Governor, a petition praying that such Bonded-War"bouse may be established, and that such Committee be empowered to take all necessary steps to further so desirable an object. • econded'by Dr Morice, and carried.
The Committee eVc 4 ; hiving appointed a pluca and tiau fur meeting, the business of the evening was concluded by a vote of thanks to the chairman.
