TOWN-COUNCIL CLYDE.
The Council met on Friday last, the 17th inst., at the temporary Council Chambers, Victoria Theatre. The Mayor J. D. Feraud, and all the Councillors were present. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. The Mayor protesting against the clause in Standing Orders making the hour of meeting 7 p.m, to the Town-clerk was read. The Town-clerk read a communication from Mr Inspector Morton stating, that the Chief Commissioner of Police had signified his intention of complying with the wishes of the Council respecting the appointment of a member of to the office of Inspector of Weights and Measures. Councillor Morice gave notice that he would propose, at the next meeting of the Council—That Messrs J. Downing and D. M'Connichie, be appointed Valuators to the Municipality. Proposed "by Councillor Cambridge— That a v ub-Committee, consisting of Councillor Cope, Councillor Morice, and the Mover, be appointed to draw up the Standing Orders and Bye-Laws. Seconded by Councillor Hazlett, and carried. Councillor Hazlett gave notice that at the next meeting of the Council, he would move for— V return of the probable expenses of the Council for the current year, to'be laid upon the table. Councillor Goodwin proposed—That the Town-clerk write to Messrs Fergusson and Mitchell, of Dunedin, to forward a series of devices for Incorporate Seals. Seconded by Councillor Morice, and carried. A vote of thanks to the Chair concluded the proceedings.
