Mayor, W. M. Kobinson, Esq,, R.M. West Ward, James Hazlett 17, Charles L. Morice 15, James Patterson 1, Charles Ziele 12, Joseph Downing 10. East Ward, "John Uffill Cambridge 17. Wil iam Kittelty 11, Benjamin Naylor 6, Charles Goodwin 14. South Ward, William Edwards 9, Edward G. Ryan, 9, George Shearston 7, Henry John Cope i\ through the casting vote of the acting Mayor, Mr ope was elected with the Mr tlyan for the South Ward. Four of the elected Councillors returned thanks to the e ectors for the honor conferred upon tUw in sa : few words pithy and to the pop?, which were well received. \ vote of thanks to the acting Mayor was enthusiastically awarded together with three cheers, after which "prosperity to the Tuwu of Clyde, and success to the Mayor," was proposed and was loyally a swereit with cheers, that showed the sincerity of all present. Mr Ferand, the Mayor, in reply stated, he felt proud of being placed in the position he was, he agreed with one of the Councillors who had said- " measures'and not men" would he his motto, and he hoped that that would be the guiding star of the Council, and that to the utmost of his power he would work for the prosperity of the Town of Clvde.
