LETTERS. Island Lettrs ; From sitir part of Now Zealand to any other part of New Zealand ; Not. exceeding I 07. 2d. Exceeding: 1 ounce, and not exceeding 1 ounce Ad. 1 „ .. 2 „ Sd. and «o m. increasing one shilling for every additional ounce or fraction of an ounce. To the United Kingdom, By Southampton or by direct ship— Not exceeding ounce 6d. Exceeding \ ounce, and not exceeding 1 ounce Is. 1 . „ 2 n 2s. and so on, increasing one shilling for every additional ounce or fraction of an ounce. By Marseilles— Not cxeecding A ounce 10d, Exceed. 5 ounce, and not exceed. 1 ounce Is Sd. ~ 1 „ 1, 2 ~ 3s dil ~ 2 „ ~3 „ 5s Sd, Every ounce after the first, Is Id. To British Coi.onifs and Forign Countries, (For which 'Mails arc made up direct,) Not exceeding J ounce 6d. Exceeding ounce, and not exceed. 1 ounce Is „ 1 „ ~ 2 „ 2s. and so on, increasing one shilling for every additional ounce or fraction of an ounce. To the Continent of Europe via Trieste Not exceed. I ounce Is. Exceed, j ounce, and not exceed. 1 ounce , 2s. „ 1 „ „ 2 . As. and so on, increasing two shillings for every additional ounce or fraction of an ounce. To Naval Seamen and Soldiers, Letters sent to or by seamen and soldiers in Tier Majesty’s service will be transmitted within the colony." and between the colony and any post-office in the British dominions, at a charge of one pennv, provided that the following regulations are ob - served ; 1. Each letter must not exceed half an ounce in weight. 2. It must he superscribed with the name of the writer, his description or class in the vessel or regiment, and s'gnod by the officer at the time in ccmraind. 3. The postage must be pre-paid. Every letter of this description posted nrrcceived in this colony, notin accordance with the foregoing regulations, will be treated as an ordinary letter. The postage upon these letters must in all (loses he paid in advance. Free Letters. Letters on the public service of Her Majesty's naval and military forces are exempted from the payment of postage, if hearing (he words -, On ITe.r Majesty’s Service,” and the signature of the offieer in command of the force on the service of which the letter is despatched. Letters on the public service of the Genera! Government of the colony are Iran milted free by post, if bearing the words “On the Public Service »«jpnly,” and the signature of some officer of the ISk ~acral Government authorised to frank letters. Registered Letters. Registration fee .. ~ .. 6d. addition to the ordinary postage chargeable on -any letter. NEWSPAPERS.
