This day

The steamer Black Eagle plying between Brighton and St. Kilda sprang a leak yesterday while making one of her trips. She was able to reach Brighton pier in safety and landed all passengers numbering over 130, but sank shortly afterwards.

While sports were taking place at Eaglehawk, near Sandhurst, yesterday, the grandstand, containing GSO women and children collapsed. Few only of the occupants were injured, but none seriously.
