Mr Booth, the temperance ieformer, has decided to visit Auckland in January, and will open his mission in New Zealand with a series of addresses there.

December 4. The Agent-general has telegraphed to the Victorian Government that Earl Derby in the House of Lords denied that the Imperial Government were hesitating to introduce the Enabling Bill, and that ho has no wish to withdraw from the pledge, and is sanguine the measure will pass without opposition. His Lordship added that he expected to receive in the Spring replies from the colonies to the amendments proposed in the Draft Enabling Bill, and explained that the delay which is taking place would enable New Zealand and New South Wales to reconsider their position, although unanimity of the colonies in the matter is unnecessary fsicj.
