In the event of any person tendering for two or more leases the deposit of a sum equal to one half-year's rent of the i tender largest in amount shall be sufficient, 3 together with the sum of £1 10s to pay for c the lease and registration thereof, paid f either in cash, marked cheque, or bank draft, f made payable to the Receiver of Land s Revenue, Wellington: Provided that in the case of a person tendering for two or more leases, such as he may in the aggregate become the lessee of under the Act, namely, in the case where tho lands comprised in the several leases adjoin each other, in such case the deposit shall be a halfyear's rent at the rate tendered for each such lease, and also the sum of £1 10s in respect of each such lease, the fee for pre- _, paration and registration of same. j I Any lessee who has fulfilled all conditions of improvements within six years can acquire the freehold of his leaso on payment . of the price fixed at the time the lease was ! granted, provided the payment is made within eleven years of the commencement j of the lease. s Note. —Limits of area for each lessee: , No lease shall be made to any person own--3 ing, nor shall any person be capable of ■ becoming the lessee undor a lease, or a sub--3 lessee, who owns any freehold land, or 3 land held under lease or license under the Crown whereby such person shall become either the owner, tenant, or occupier in the t whole, either by himself or jointly with any other person or persons, including the lands I comprised in the lease, of a greater area ■ than 640 acres anywhere in the colony. ) The sections comprised in the Schedule are situated at Pahiatua, in the Mangaone Block, in the Kopuaranga District, about Dreyer'o Rock, near Dreyerton, and front upon or are adjacent to the main road con- ? necting Masterton and Woodville. Branch roads have been formed through the sec- [ tions at Dreyer's Rock Central Mangaone, • Hawera, and Pahiatua, at distances respectively from Masterton of about fourteen miles, thirty-one miles, thirty-five miles, and forty miles. The Mangahao sections are within fourteen miles of the Town of . Woodville. Tho Main Trunk Railway from Wellington to Napier is now being constructed to a point about seventeen miles north of 5 Mastorton. Sites for railway stations have . been selected at several points. Tho wholo of the sections are covered with forest, the principal trees being tawa, rimu, hinau, rata, kahikatea, with totara in places; the undergrowth is, as a rule, heavy ; the'general character of the soil is good, and in somo places is of first-class quality, the formation being limestone, clay marl, sandstone, &c. The country is generally hilly and undulating, but there arc large flats as well as broken ground within the area ; it is well watered, and, as the climate is also very favourable tlio land shotdd, when cleared and brought into cultivation, prove well adapted for pastoral aud, to some extent, agricultural purposes.
