MAIN TRUNK LINE.

Auckland, This day. Mr Rochfoft and party commenced the survey of the main trunk line at; this end. Some"little disappointment was experienced here when it becitine L known that the survey for preparing plans and specification for the first section will take considerable time, and that tenders are not likely to be called for till the autumn. There is a good deal of actual work to be done in sounding's of swamps, etc., and Mr Rochfort will shortly be assisted by Mr Hurnthouse and' Holmes.
