THE SEAMEN'S STRIKE.

Auckland, lhis day.

The charges of being absent without leave against 24 seamen on strike were withdrawn yesterday by the Northern Steamship Company. The inducement was a cheque for £100, paid to the Company by the treasurer of the Seamen's Union, in recompense for any loss caused by the strike. The charges against six seamen from the Thomas Russell were adjourned till November 3rd. , At a meeting of the Seamen's Union yesterday, the chairman exhorted all now to further the interests of shipowners. Three cheers were given to him. It was announced that the Northern S.S. Company did not intend to press the charges against the men who had been arrested.
