THE FIRE THIS MORNING.
[TO THE EdITOK OF TUB DAILY TELEGRAPH. ] Sin, —Tbro ugh the fire at the Western Spit this morning , not only are Mr Northe and another great losers, but there are two persevering and deserving shipwrights who have had the greater part of their tools destroyed, the estimated loss being from £5 to £6 in the one case, and from £10 to £12 in the other. As both of them are now, through scarcity of work, unable to replace whjat they have lost, and as I can confidently say that they are worthy of the assistance of the public, I sincerely trust that you will assist me in appealing on their behalf. I will gladly receive any subscriptions for them, and trust you will kindly do the same.—l am, kc, Capt. John Gleadow, Waghorne Street, Spit. 28th October,-1881.
