THIS SEASON AT TARADALE. ; ' . ill qpHE Fashionably-bred -**- V el 'y Superior i»|pS§|j% Throughbred Horse PISCATORIOUS. : This beautiful and stout-bred horse is a dark brown, Avith black points,' stands about 1G hands 2 inches high, his" whole contour being very handsome, powerful, arid has a neat expressive head, indicative of a good temper, which he possesses/ his neck is long and muscular, with windpipe well detached, his shoulders are deep and well laid back, and good enough for anything. Traducer (sire of Piscatorious), a recollec--tion of whose name will never die while racing exists, for his progeny have proved themselves to be of the very highest class, viz - : Liuiine, Calumny, Templeton, Welcome Jack, Le Loup, and Sir Modred (winning this year the-Sydney Great Metropolitan). Fisherman (sire of the dam Piscatorious), as a game and lasting horse may challenge the best of the -"days, that are gone.'' Against the best horses in England (and always carrying top weight) in 185G, he started in thirty-four races, and won twenty-three races ; in IS-J7, started thirtysix and won twenty-three ; in 1858, started thirty-two and won twenty-one. Sometime after ISGO ho was. imported to Australia, and put to the stud, and as results have shown proved himself the Emperor of Stallions of the Southern Hemisphere, for his descendants, both at the turf and at the stud, have provod themselves the best horses ill Australia. , Fisherman is the sire' and grandsire of .the following wonders: —■ Sylvia (dam Martini Henry) Maribyrnong (the most fashionable sire in Australia), Angler (the best sire in Australia, to-day), Onyx (Auckland Stud Company's mare), Lady Heron, The Fly, Robinson Crusoe, Horatio, Goldsborough (this the coming sire of 'Australia), Hamlet, Cap-a-pie, Richmond, Progress, Cumiair.ula, Navisrator, Dagmar,' : Ferryman, Fishhook, Gasworks, Segenhoe, Sardonyx, lolanthe, and Biirgo (these two last mentioned horses were first and second in this year's Hawkesbury Guineas.) Two of the best mares owned by the Auckland Stud Company are descendants of Fisherman, St. Simon, the best horse tho world over saw, runs back to the old Fisherman strain. Fanny Fisher (dam of Piscatorious) is tho dam of some of the best horses that have ever trod on tho New Zealand turf. Coquette (imp., dam of Fanny Fisher), was first put to the stud in England, where her progeny proved themselves real clippers. She was eventually imported to Australia, and becamo the dam and grand dam of gome of Australia's best performers. Launcelot (sire of Coquette) was a grandly bred horse, being out of Banter, by Camel—Launcelot. Won the English St. Legor, IS4O. Fanny Fisher was the Only Fisherman mare ever put to Traducer. This alone should make Piscatorious invaluable as a stud horse, and when two such renowned strains are blended together, it requires only a few really firstclass mares to make Piscatorious as famous at the stud as his sire and grand sire. Mr Walters (and whose opinion ought to bo respected in reference to horseflesh) always spoke of this horse as the "future sire of Now Zealand," and if fahape and appearance go for anything ho should be right, for ho is the model of a racehorse, without a particle of lumber; add his blood for' every requisite—speed, stoutness, running family on the sides of the sire and dam, such as cannot be surpassed. Tho following pedigree (wore ho alive) would make poor old Mr I'Anson's eyes glisten with dolight, for it fairly bristles with England's best and purest blood: — „ Jo Pantaloon ast . rel g"aj o Pafquinnde, eiator Camel ,eN t- , lo Touchstone Banter ■j tj- — _______ i! a Eds, brother to ai W 11 J Ji P irus (d.* of Orlando ~iK Languid, *iste fto Cain Languish Lydia v <a , . a c$ ■ Bastard % % g.., Ileron O n Daughter of S3 *S& O »' 5.2.C ■ r o S i l -If Sheet Anchor 2 j?" 2JS Mainbraco 04 SjS ?
