A torchlight procession and a performance in the Theatre lloyal will be given to-night for the benefit of the projected Clivc Square improvements. Mr Lyndon will auction a quantity of furniture and other effects in the estate of J, A. Cunningham at his mart at 11 a.m. to-morrow. Mr Margoliouth holds an auction sale of insurance and mining shares, tweeds, drapery, fancy goods, &c, at the City mart at 11 a.m. to-morrow. Messrs Banner and Liddlo sell at noon to-morrow, on the premises at Hastings, the whole of Mr P. S. Macdonald's furniture and effects. Mr M. R. Miller submits to auction at Bcccroft's yards, Hastings, at 1 p.m. tomorrow, a number of well-bred cattle, dairy cows, bulls, and draught and other horses. Messrs Montcith and Co. hold their weekly sale of horses, vehicles, &c, at the Horse Bazaar ou Saturday, and also submit a quantity of shaft and leading harness without reserve.
Mr Margoliouth holds his regular weekly sale of produce, groceries, fancy goods, and fruit, at the City mart on Saturday. Chiarini's Royal Italian Circus, which opens in Clivc Square on Saturday, is coming by special steamer, and a list of the wild beasts which will bo exhibited will be found in another column.
Kntries for tho Rowing- Clnp's annual trial fours close at the Criterion Hotel on Monday evening next. The hours at" which the special circus train will leave the various stations on Monday evening next are announced. Mr F. Button convenes a meeting of shooting license holders and others interested for Thursday next at the Council Chamber to consider tho propriety of taking .steps to secure the protection of game. An auction sale of Crown lauds in the Woodville. Norsewood, and Tahoraito survey districts, for cash and on deferred payments, will be held at the Council Chamber, Napier, on the 17th proximo. The Npier High School endowment lands in the Waihua survey district will be open for selection for cash'at the Crown Lands Office, Napier, on and after tho ISth proximo. Messrs Blytho and Co. are now showing in ther clothing department a selection of new and fashionable goods, which for variety, durability, and cheapness cannot be surpassed. The Now Zealand Clothing Factory reserve a half-column space over the leader.
Messrs Newton and Co. have opened up tho bulk of their summer shipments, and every department is replete with the newest and most stylish goods for the season. Mr Charles Palmer informs the owners of certain sections in the Mcaneo Mission estate that he intends erecting a dividing fence between his land and their .sections.
Mr Raikes, drawing master, has moved his studio from Marine Parade to Thompson road. Mr J. Collingo has two rooms in a cottage at Hastings to let, furnished or unfurnished. Mr John McVay, wholesale and retail saddler, invites inspection of his stock of saddlery and harness, every article in the trade being kept in stock.
Mr M. It. Miller has the remaining unsold sections of the Mount Erin estate for private sale. Mr J. F. Sturm has cabbage and cauliflower plans, ilower seeds, and fresh vegetables for sale. Messrs Ruddock and Fryer manufacture stencil plates on copper or zinc at shortest notice, and have large shipment of Bargou and Balls' sheep shears for sale. Messrs R. Hannah and Co. have definitely fixed the date of removal to their new premises opposite the Post Office for Thursday, October 16th. Special bargains are on offer up to that date to clear before removal. Holidays, holidays.—Mr. R. H. Robinson has a."nice lot of ladies' trimmed hats suitable for the holidays, very cheap and fashionable, also gent's helmets in choice shapes and very cheap at Robinson's, Emerson street.
