. tu«l Morses. TO STAND THIS SEASON AT T__E.AJD_i.I_E. "k rpi-IE Fashionably-bred Js*_3W_ tfe JL and Very Superior _*|fliJ_lk Throughbrcd Horse PISCATORIOUS. This beautiful and stout-bred horse is a dark brown, Avith black points, stands about 16 hands 2 inches high, his whole contour being very handsome, powerful, and has a neat expressive head, indicatiA'e of a good temper, which he possesses, his neck is long and muscular, Avith windpipe Avell detached, his shoulders are deep and well laid back, and good enough for anything. Traducer (sire of Piscatorious), a recollection of whose name will never die Avhile racing exists, for his progeny have proved themselves to be of the very highest class, viz-: Lurlinc, Calumny, Templeton, Welcome Jack, Le Loup, and Sir Modred (Avinning this year the Sydney Great Metropolitan). Fisherman (sire of the dam Piscatorious), as a game and lasting horse may challenge the best of the "days that are gone."" Against the best horses in England (and always carrying top Aveight) in 1850, he started in thirty-four races, and Avon tAventy-three races ; in 1557, started thirtysix and Avon tAventy-tbree ; in ISSS, started thirty-two and Avon twenty-one. Sometime after 1860 he was imported to Australia, and put to the stud, and as results have shown proved himself the Emperor of Stallions of the Southern Hemisphere, for his descendants, both at the turf and at the stud, have proved themselves the best horses in Australia. Fisherman is the sire and grandsirc of the folloAving wonders: — Sylvia (dam Martini Henry) Maribyrnong (the most fashionable sire in Australia), Angler (the best sire in Australia to-day), Onyx (Auckland Stud Company's mare), Lady Heron, The Fly, Robinson Crusoe, Horatio. Goldsborough (this the comingsire of Australia), Hamlet, Cap-a-pie, Richmond, Progress, Cunnamnla, Navigator, Dagmar, Ferryman, Fishhook, Gasworks, Segenlioe, Sardonyx, lolanthe, and Bargo (these two last mentioned horses were first and second in this year's Hawkesbury Guineas.) Two of the best marcs owned by the Auckland Stud Company are descendants of Fisherman, St. Simon, the best horse the world ever saw, runs back to the old Fisherman strain. Fanny Fisher (dam of Piscatorious) is the dam of some of the best horses that havo ever trod on the Ncav Zealand turf. Coquette (imp., dam of Fanny Fisher), was first put to the stud in England, where her progeny proved themselves real clippers. She Avas eventually imported to Australia, and became the dam and grand dam of some of Australia's best performers. Launcelot (sire of Coquette) was a grandly bred horse, being out of Banter, by Camel—Launcelot. Won the English St. Legcr, 18-10. Fanny Fisher Avas the only Fisherman mare over put to Traducer. This alone should make Piscatorious invaluable as a stud horse, and when tAvo such renowned strains aro blended together, it requires only a foAV really firstclass mares to make Piscatorious as famous at the stud as his sire and grand sire. Mr Walters (and whose opinion ought to be respected in reference to horseflesh) ahvays spoke of this horse as the "future sire of Ncav Zealand," and if shape and appearance go for anything ho should be right, for ho is the model of a racehorse, Avithout a particle of lumber; add his blood for every requisite—speed, stoutness, running family on tho sides of the sire and dam, such us cannot be surpassed. Tbc following pedigree (wore ho alive) would mako poor old Mr I'Anson's eyes glisten Avith delight, for it fairly bristles Avith England's best and purest blood: — f — r> *i „ Castrel _._. £ Pantaloon __ alia ._ = g-rf o Pasquinade, sister Camel [5 to Touchstone Banter -j s _ £y. <s Eli_, brother to f^f a _•_ | Kpirus (o.*! of Orlando "2 <v *? i_ < Languid, sister to Cain Lauguish Lydia . _ -ZS Bastard g g _._ Heron O - Daughter of 02 rt in j_ O » C.S.C t-i > _j sS °- _j _, a ~ &-| Sheet Anchor S ~" » Hainbrace (U 3 _ joh Daughter of oS * j_o Launcelot brother Lamel * 2 ~.Sf to Touchstone Banto _ tT*j _.— £ "_._ C-£ _; »0 %2< o S I Sheet Anchor a ga -, Abaft .§ S,-r g Lady Kmmclino For extended pedigree see cards.
