FATAL ACCIDENTS.
At.ckh.nd, Thia day. Yoaterday afternoon a deplorable occurronco, resulting in the deith of one of the contractors, took place afc the new Prcsby-
torian Church now in course of erection at Surrey Hills. Part of the building , had been put up, when a gust of wind caught it and ble-w it down. Gavin Miller Darrell was struck violently by the falling timber, his head being completely crushed. Death was instantaneous. Percy Lipscombc, who at the time was conversing with Darrell inside the building, jumped through an opening and escaped. Westpoet, This day. The body of Hendersen, tho engineer of the Timaru, was found yesterday. He is supposed to have fallen into the river. A severe wound was found over his left eye, he having evidently struck the timber of the wharf in falling. Deceased was not under the influence of drink when he was last seen.
