In declining to co-operate with Mr Service in urging the Imperial Government to accelerate the annexation of New Guinea, Mr Stuart stated that ho was actuated principally by a desire to look upon tho question in a broad light, and adopt that line of action by which tho colonies would be most likely to accomplish the object they had at heart.
