A CAPITAL IDEA.

[To the Editor of the Daily Telegraph.] Sir,— Kindly permit mo to suggest to the four candidates now seeking election for the representation of No 1 Ward the advisabihty of calling a public meeting so as to give an expression of their individual views on matters municipal. The school-house at the Spit would, I think, be a good place. The breakwater question, and the North Island railway route by way of Taupo, are questions materially affecting the welfare of this borough, and therefore a practical and workmanlike opiniou on the carrying out of these works would be of much benefit, particularly now as Parliament is m session. I am sure, Sir, you will agree that the idea is a capital one.—l am, &c, Ratepayer.
