COMMERCIAL.
Mr M. R. Miller reports at his land sale to-day bidding was very dull. The only sections sold were the following:—On account of 11. Tancrcd, Esq., subdivision of sections 5 and G, East Hastings, No. 1, 1 rood, £70 ; No. 2, 1 rood, £45 ; No. 3, 4, and 5, 1 rood each, £45 each ; No. G, 1 rood, £45 ; No. 7, 39 perches, £45. The other Hastings, Kaikora, and Woodville sections were withdrawn at reserve prices, and are now for sale privately.

The market rate of discount has declined to I§, and is now five-eights below tho bank rate. Adelaide wheat, ex-store, remains at 38/-, and NeW Zealand ditto at 34/- to 38,'- ; Adelaide Hour, ex-warehouse, 27/-. Australian tallow, average quality, beef 35/G, ditto mutton 30/-. The catalogue at to-day's wool sale comprised 12,100 bales. A firm tone was again experienced. Inferior qualities of scoured wool are slightly easier, and medium and common cross-brsds are also rather easier.
