ATTEMPTED SUICIDE.

Christchurch, This day,

A laborer named Henry Scott attempted suicide yesterday under the following circumstances: —He had been summoned for failing to provide for his children, and as he neglected to appear at the R.M. Court a warrant was issued for his arrest. Detective O'Connor was. entrusted with the execution of the warrant, and when Scott saw him coming about 12 o'clock he cut his throat with a razor. The wound was very dangerous, and he was at once removed to the hospital. Spott had not beeif drinking, but was despondent, and his wife had heard him threaten suicide.
