THE AUSTRALIANS AT BRIGHTON.
(Received August 2G, 8.15 p.m.) LONDON. August 25. The Australian cricketers commenced a match to-day at Brighton against an eleven of Cambridge past and present. The following are the names of the home team : — Hon. A. Lyttclcou (captain), Messrs J. E. K. Studd, A. J. E. Ford, F. E. Lacy, A. Lucas, P. E. Roller, A. G. Steel, H. B Steel, H. Whitfield, C. H. Allcock, and P. H. Morton. There was a very large attendance of spectators, although the weather was cold and inclement. The wicket was somewhat bumpy, and in favor of the bowlers. The Australians went in first, and were all disposed of for a total of 190, the highest scorers being Scott caught 25, Giffen caught 34, Palmer run out 23, and Spoli'orth run out 42. The home team were less successful, and lost seven wickets for 47 when play ceased for the day. Studd run out 14 was the principal scorer.
