July 31. The race for the Goodwood Cup was run to-day, and resulted as follows :—St. Simon 1, Ossian 2, Friday 3. Liberal and Conservative organisations are now prosecuting an active campaign in London and the provinces in connection with the Franchise Bill. (Received August 1, 1 p.m.) The European Conference on Egyptian affairs met again to-day, but was further adjourned until Saturday next. The cargo of frozen mutton on board the ship Wellington from Lyttelton has been examined, and found to be in poor condition, the carcasses not having been properly prepared for shipment.
