Alice Lynch pleaded guilty to the like offence, and was brought up to-day for. sentence. Christchurch, This day. ; The criminal sittings of the Supreme Court closed yesterday. Francis John Ormandy, accused of stealing from: Messrs Harris and Son, and Mark Rolls, accused of receiving the goods knowing them _to be stolen, were acquitted. George Hamil, charged with forgery, had his trial postponed in consequence of the prosecutor having disappeared, •- : Dunedin, This day. : At the Supreme Court yesterday Thomas Plynri was found guilty of perjury, committed in the R.M.- Court at Palmerston South. . He brought an action there to recover : £40 - from Mrs Brown, "• a widow, who "is an hotel-keeper, and swore that he gave , her : £20 in cash to keep for him, and that she'also detained a cheque for £20. It was proved that Mrs Brown, got'no cash from thb'defendant, and that she gave him chango for the die,que.in.full.' ."Sentence was . deferred, pending the decision of the Court of Appeal on a point ;of law.reserved.. The Tease,•against; Stewart M'Comb, .'for sheep-stealing at' Laurence, occupied all the afternoon, and, at the adjournment three witnesses; for the Crown remained to be exa'iriiried. ; The jury, were therefore locked" up. for the night. . ,
