In the face of the strenuous efforts that are being made by certain sections in the chief centres of population in the colony to place a Grey Ministry into power, it may be as well to republish the following return. This return, we should mention, wis laid on the table of the House in 1879, and gives the sums paid to Ministers for houso allowance, travelling expenses, or any other payments in excess of salary from July 1, 1878 to October 31, IS79 —the la .t sixteen months of the Grey Ministry's term of office.
