SUPREME COURT.
Wellington, This day. At the Sunreme Court this morning the Grand Jury found true bills against Thomas J. Glew for perjury, and also against W. H. Monckton and Mrs Alice Lynch for false declaration under the Marriage Act. Albert, Komp, a mate of the barque Hudson, was fined £20, or in default one month's imprisonment, for refusing to assist the police. . Ckristchurcii, ibis day. The criminal sessions of the Supreme Court were opened yesterday. The Judge's charge contained nothing of special importance. Henry Herbert Hunt, convicted of forgery, was sentenced to two year.V imprisonment with hard labor; Hans Hansen, larceny from a dwelling, twelve months' ; Wm. Ebbs, larceny from the person, two years'; George Titrans, charged with arson, was acquited. In tbe case of Wm. Pitcuirn, charged with attempted suicide, tho Grand Jury found no bill against him. Dunedin, This day. At the Supreme Court yesterday Mary Goddard, for wounding George Finch with whom she was living, received a sentence of fourteen days' imprisonment. Philip V. Dennis, for forgery, was sentenced to six months' imprisonment. Mina Stuart, for the like offence, received a sentence of nine months'. Nora W r elch, charged with abandoning her child under a hedge cm Pine Hill, was found not guilty. Eliza and Margaret Massey, charged with breaking into a -private dwelling, pleaded guilty. Maria Scanlon and Mary Massey, charged with receiving the goods stolen by the other two, pleaded not guilty. Mary Massey was acquitted and Maria Scanlan was convicted of receiving stolen property, sentence being deferred.
