ARRIVALS June.
26—Bombay, s.s., from London via Wellington. Passengers — Messrs J. Buchanan and G. C, Hart, and Captains Babott and W. Ruth. 27—Eliza Firth, brigantinc, from Greymouth.
Messrs Shaw Savill and the Albion Company's steamer Bombay, 3133 tons, Captain Holloway, arrived off tho town at 1 o'clock yesterday afternoon, after a 23 hours pessage from Wellington, but it was about 2.30 p.m.. before ehe anchored in the roadstead. The Boojnin tendered her on arrival for mails and passengers, and the lighters Admiral and Three Brothers went alongside soon afterwards and commenced taking her cargo. To-day the Weka is busily engaged taking off frozen meat, and the other lighters are getting her inward .cargo and loading up with wool and tallow to be taken out to-morrow. As the utmost expedition is. being used it is expected that the Bombay will have taken in her complement of frozen meat, and shipped all the wool, tallow, and other produce we have on hand in about a week, when she will proceed to Lyttelton to fill up. Messrs Kinross and Co. are her local agents, but shippers can get all information from Messrs Murray Roberts and Co., or Mr F. W. Williams. The Union Company's s.s. Rotomahana loft Auckland at noon yesterday, will leave Gisborne to-night, and is due here by daylight to-morrow morning. Her advertised time of sailing for Southern ports, Hobart, and Melbourne is 2 p.m. The launch Bella is to get away_ at 2 o'clock to-morrow morning for Moeangiangi, Mohaka, and Waikari, taking some passengers and a full cargo. The three-masted schooner Frank Guy has cleared at the Customs in ballast for Newcastle, N.S.W., and will probably got away at low water slack this afternoon. The Union Company's s.s. Southern Cross left Wellington at 12 o'clock last night, and should reach here at about the same hour to-night. She will be brought inside to discharge on Saturday, and at 5 p.m. is advertised to steam for Gisborne and Auckland. The brigantine Eliza Firth, Capt Thompson, arrived in tho bay at 10 o'clock this morning, and was soon afterward towed inside by the Boojum and berthed at the breastwork. She is from Greyinouth, where she reports leaving on the 19th instant; experienced heavy N.E. weather for first three days, and "during a squall, when off Rock's Point, had her jibboom carried away; passed Cape Farewell on the 22nd, and got through the Straits on the 23rd, and rounded Palliser on tho 25th ; had N.E. weather until she passed through the Straits, from thence variable. Her cargo consists of coal and coke, which she will commence discharging to-morrow, the former being consigned to the gas works, and the latter to Mr John Orr.
Owing to the steamer Bombay leaving Wellington sooner than was expected, tho Sir Donald, which is wanted for lighterage purposes, had to throw out her coast cargo again, and will not now get away until next week.
The s.s. Wairoais to getaway for Wairoa at 12 o'clock to-night, taking cargo and passengers. The Union Company's s.s. Te Anau is to leave Wellington at 7 o'clock to-night for Sydney yia Northern ports, and should reach here about 12 or 1 o'clock to-morrow. The launch with the outward passengers for this vessel is announced to leave the breastwork at 4,30 p.m. The p.s. Manaia is to steam for Wairoa at 12 o'clock to-night, taking cargo and passengers. The s.s. Kiwi is to leave Wellington for the coast and Napier on Saturday cvoning.
